Manila's Best Night Stops for Hanging Out, Dating and Clubbing

Manila may be the country's commercial center, but when the sun sets the city transforms. Shadier districts light the streets with neon, upscale bars provide overlooking views of Makati, and other places offer a laid back vibe where friends can chill and get a drink or have an intimate conversation with a date.

No matter what our preference or definition of a good time, Manila has an eclectic night scene for people looking to let their hair down after work or school.

Valkyrie

Looking for a good time and a glimpse of local celebrities? Valkyrie is the place to go.

Valkyrie is the current "it" nightclub for those who want to be seen hanging out and partying all night. With its large capacity and VIP rooms, friends or strangers can dance all night to music from world class DJs every weekend. The spacious rooms and two floors can accommodate up to 2,000 people.

If you're looking for an intimate spot where we share drinks and stories with friends, you've come to the wrong place. Jam-packed almost every weekend, we don't have much space to move around while the loud music thumps until early in the morning.

Valkyrie is a pricey club to party the night way; you spend somewhere between P5,000 for cocktails for 8 in the mezzanine to P35,000 for the Skybox for 15 people.

71 Gramercy

71 Gramercy is ideal for party-goers and people who want to have an exquisite dinner among an intimate group of friends or a hot date. The New York-style inspired bar/lounge/restaurant is on the 71st floor of Gramercy Residences.

Wait until night falls and enjoy the magnificent view of the city while sipping on cocktails or wine. Pig out on sumptuous dishes made by Chef Carlo Miguel as you soak in the last rays of the sun until blue hour, the best time of day to see the city just before night.

Gramercy 71 provides the best of both worlds, a place to party and an intimate dining experience.

The food is a bit pricey at approximately more than P500 per person. You can also order the Degustation Classic for P1,880 which includes Oysters Rockefellers, French Onion Soup, Caesar Salad, Crispy Salmon Fillet, Tournedos Rossini and Chocolate Souffle. Order signature cocktails such as the Don Julio Blanco, Black mojito and the Caprioska.

Cubao X

Cubao X isn't exactly a specific bar or club in Manila, but the area is worth a look. Not exactly as glitzy as the bars and lounges in Makati, but it gives us an artistic and an indie edge for a night out with friends or a date.

Cubao X has art galleries, live music, bars, restaurants and stores reminiscent of Haji Lane in Singapore. Grab a couple of beers with friends or impress a lady friend with your artistic side as you move from one gallery or bar to another.

Cubao X has plenty of choices when it comes to food; we could easily just spend P300 for two people or more than P1,000 on a date depending on which restaurant we eat in. Bars charge approximately P150 on average for cocktails and drinks while listening live music or DJs.

The Distillery

If a chill spot is what we're after, The Distillery is the place to go. Formerly a secret drinking spot by yuppies, this bar has gained popularity.

Have an intimate conversation with friends while drinking some of the best beer, whisky, scotch and other alcoholic drinks we can find in the Metro. It's not too noisy, but the place can get packed on weekends and happy hour. It has a nice mix of ambiance and selection of drinks to make it the perfect spot to just get a good drink and tell stories.

Start the night with a shot of Absolut Vodka for P150 or a cocktail at P120. Buy the bottle for approximately P1,000 to P5,000+++. Drinks average around P150 to P200 per shot or glass.

Chaos

Four friends living in the south Chaos in the City of Dreams Manila can head to Chaos for a raucous good time. The nightclub can accommodate up to 2,000 people, which makes it one of the biggest clubs in the Metro.

State of the art sound systems, VIP KTV rooms and couches and cages with pole dancing add to the exclusivity and circus-like atmosphere of this hip nightclub. Hit the dance floor while music from world-class DJs play until the wee hours of the morning.

Chaos Manila is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 11PM to 6AM. We have to call 09178863678 or email chaostablereservations@cod-manila.com to book VIP tables. Depending on the current event door prices range from P500 to P1,000 with one drink per ticket.
