Batch 2014: Cars of the [Near] Future
The recent car models we see on the streets and dealerships are just so... typical. Every single day, thousands of cars hit the streets of Manila, and we've seen these models a thousand times before.
The future car models, however, hold the allure of what's next in the car industry. Whether it's a brand new design or a total revamp, there's something mystic about a new model between the day of its launch and the moment it hits the streets. It's controversial, yet exciting.
So to give you a better idea of what to expect in the year 2014, we've put together a short list of the most awaited cars of 2014.
2014 BMW 4 Series
BMW's 4 Series is essentially the 2-door version of BMW's popular 3 series. With the 3 Series now involving a sedan, a hatchback, and a wagon, the 4 series helps set the 4-passenger, 2-door model apart from BMW's 3 Series models. It's now available only as a coupe, but we can also expect a convertible model to debut soon to replace the 3 Series convertible.
2014 Kia Soul
If you're a fan of crossovers, then the 2014 Kia Soul should definitely be on your bucket list. It's a high profile, quasi-crossover wagon built to contend with the likes of Scion's xB and Nissan's Cube. It's already a second generation and Kia completely redesigned the new Soul, taming its ride and upgrading the tech. An enhanced driving experience, stunning tech features, and more surprises - coming altogether at you this Year of the Horse.
2014 Volvo V60 Sports Wagon
Enough of the Van Damme split thing. Besides, not everyone is on the market for a Volvo truck. The Volvo V60 Sports Wagon has high expectations after having a successful launch in Europe. As Volvo always prioritizes safety, they increased their commitment by giving drivers the choice for auto stopping at up to 31 mph in case danger looms ahead. This model is also a more stylish wagon than has ever been seen in the company's 60 years working on wagons.
It's still unclear whether Volvo will release a diesel engine in the V60, but for now, let's just wait and see what the hybrid model is capable of doing.
The 2014 Mazda6 has the looks of any other midsize sedan; it's just that Mazda made it more fun and powerful to drive. In fact, it's one of the best-driving midsize sedans that don't house a V6 or turbo-powered engine. So if you're looking for a sedan with great fuel efficiency and an enhanced driving experience, then the 2014 Mazda6 will be your road buddy.
2014 Toyota Corolla
If you have been cheering for Toyota for as long as you can remember, then the 2014 Toyota Corolla is definitely for you. With roomy seating for five and a tried-and-tested 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine, this 4-door sedan is truly worth a drive.
And there you have it, everything you want to read. Now, expect the showrooms to house these models in a few more days. Just you wait.
